New Years Party Mix 2012

2012 New Years Party MixJust in time for your New Year’s Party!  Stream or download this mix and let it flow for the night.

This is a mix from a party I recently deejayed… we had 20 somethings to 40 somethings in the crowd.  Most of them were from either DC or the Baltimore area.  It wasn’t easy finding a mix to satisfy these extremes but judging by the crowd’s reaction, I think I did it.  This mix has it all R&B, female emcees, classic east and west coast Hip-hop, Baltimore Club, Go-go, electronica, dancehall, new music and more.

Happy New Year and Enjoy… let’s get it in 2012! Love!

This Christmas Mix

This Christmas MixFrom my City to yours… happy holidays everyone!  Just in time for your last minute shopping trips, decorating and family gatherings – due to popular demand – here is my first Christmas Mix.  The name, This Christmas Mix, is obviously a play on the great Donnie Hathaway’s tune, This Christmas.  That is one of many songs included in this mix.  You’ll hear some Soul, R&B, Jazz, Go-go and gospel Christmas favorites.  So often, I find Christmas is used as an excuse to make some pretty bad music… but I think these tunes are classics and it’s just not Christmas to me until I hear them. Download this mix as a gift for someone on your list or just stream it during your holiday gatherings.  Thank you so much for your support.  Happy Kwanza, Merry Christmas and have a wonderful New Year.  Love!

Nona Hendryx – Transformation

Transform There’s some music that gets in your head and never leaves.  Long after radio forgets it and deejays stop spinning it – you hear it in your own mind from time to time and remember what you loved about it.  Nona Hendryx’s Transformation is one of those songs for me.  This experimental, 80’s dance tune is the perfect mix of that edgy funk/rock blend Hendryx has always dabbled in well.  As one of the original members of Labelle, Nona Hendryx is a R&B music icon. Never satisfied with labels, she has consistently pushed musical boundaries.  She has collaborated with pretty much every musician and singer who matters, but has always walked just outside of success as a solo artist.  Nonetheless, she shined brightly in Transformation.  Hendryx is proof that black girls really do rock!  Love.
